Archive, Photo and Film Collection, Artefacts

Mission OneWelt Centre is an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neuendettelsau, Bavaria.

The centre has an extensive archive with a wide range of documents, letters and reports of former fellow workers of the Neuendettelsau Mission. It also contains many journals, magazines and manuscripts of the German and Australian colonial times. A remarkable photo and film collection is now being digitized, categorized and in this way comprehensively assessed. Furthermore an invaluable ethnographic collection of around 2,500 objects is being stored in the basement of the Centre.

The collection is primarily from the Huon Golf region of Papua New Guinea, where mission work took place in the first 40 years from 1886 to 1930. It is arguably the world's most comprehensive collection for this cultural area. There is also an extensive archive of old photographs taken at the beginning of the last century as well as a copious archive of letters and scripts.
